Why in Holland allowed drugs?

The starting point of the Dutch policy on drugs is the pursuit of "harm reduction" ("harm reduction"), or the desire to protect them from drug use and limit the risk and harm that they cause.

In Dutch law, drug-related, strictly different cannabis (marijuana and hashish) and so-called hard drugs. On the basis of this division cannabis possession for personal use (no more than 30 grams) are not considered to be a crime, but only a violation. Among other things, the purpose of this policy - the division of the market of hard drugs and cannabis (which is sold in hard conditions coffeeshops). Sale of cannabis in coffee shops (up to 5 grams per person per day) is considered minor offenses and punishable by law.

The fact is that if the user buys it at hemp illegal dealer, the probability of collision of its heavy drug is much higher. By separating the market of hard drugs and cannabis have an opportunity effectively to protect those who use cannabis drugs, which (in terms of health) is much more dangerous.

In the Netherlands, drugs are not legalized. This view, widespread in other countries, wrongly, in the Netherlands banned all drugs, just sell 5 grams of cannabis under strict conditions in coffee shops and possession of small amounts of drugs (for personal use) is not punishable.

Coffeeshops - this place, where cannabis is sold stringent conditions (alcohol is not sold in coffee shops). Although the sale of cannabis is punishable in coffeeshops authorized the sale of small amounts of cannabis in compliance with all regulatory conditions. These conditions are: - sell not more than 5 grams of cannabis per person per day; - Not to sell hard drugs; - It does not allow any advertising of drugs; - Not to cause trouble to others; - It does not allow children under 18 years. Their main goal - to separate cannabis from hard drugs to protect the drug cannabis, especially those who are not yet 18 years old. Most often, it is minors want to try different drugs, and thus are often faced with the crime.
